Why Tencel Isn’t the Best Choice for Everything (And Why That’s a Good Sign)

If the answer is “it will pill, shrink, or fail to keep someone warm,” then I’d rather recommend a different material—even if it means fewer Tencel orders on my spreadsheet.

Tencel is an outstanding fiber—but only when you fit it to the right use case. For pajamas, sheets, flowing dresses, and lightweight blouses, it’s often my first pick. For high‑warmth insulation, heavy‑duty denim, or products subjected to rigorous wash cycles, I look elsewhere. And that’s okay. Good quality management isn’t about championing one material; it’s about knowing which material solves the real problem.
